As a homeschool companion, we recognize that your children’s daily lessons, reading records, nature sketches, and recorded narrations are deeply personal family treasures. We will never sell, rent, monetize, or broker your family’s data to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers. Period.

1. Children’s Privacy & COPPA Compliance
Living Term is designed for parents and legal guardians to plan and record their homeschool education. We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly permit children under the age of 13 to create independent accounts or provide personally identifiable contact information without direct parental control.
Student names (or pseudonyms), assigned books, and portfolio work samples entered into Living Term are managed exclusively by the account-holding parent.
2. Information We Collect
- Account Credentials: Your email address used for passwordless magic link authentication and account verification.
- Homeschool Records: Student tracks, weekly schedule slots, completed chapter checkmarks, notes, and term dates that you create.
- Keepsake Portfolio Photos: Photos of nature journals, narrations, or copywork that you choose to upload. Photos are compressed client-side on your device before transmission.
- Payment Information: All payment transactions are processed directly by Stripe. Living Term never sees, collects, or stores your credit card number, CVV, or banking credentials.
3. How Your Information Is Used
We use your information strictly to:
- Synchronize your weekly schedule and student portfolios across your household devices (phone, iPad, desktop).
- Maintain your subscription status and free trial access.
- Send critical transactional notifications (such as sign-in codes and billing receipts).
- Provide customer support when you request assistance.
4. Data Retention, Export & Right to Be Forgotten
You maintain complete ownership of your data at all times:
If you ever choose to leave Living Term, you can export your entire homeschool history via Download Backup (JSON) in the menu, and email [email protected] with the subject “Delete My Account”. We will permanently delete your account, database records, and portfolio images within 7 business days.
5. Third-Party Service Providers
We utilize a minimal set of industry-leading infrastructure partners:
- Supabase: For secure database hosting and private storage with Row-Level Security (RLS) isolation.
- Stripe: For encrypted, PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant subscription processing and invoice delivery.
- Vercel: For fast global hosting, SSL encryption, and application serving.
